Year 5 Viking Day
On Thursday, Year 5 were visited by History Off The Page for an exciting and enriching Viking Day to celebrate their Viking history topic.
During the morning, the children got to choose different craft activities linked to a Viking village and everything they made they got to take home. There was rune casting, shield necklace making, clay pottery, candle making and many other exciting activities. A highlight for some was shield and archery training with our Viking warrior.
In the afternoon, the children returned to present day and carried out an archaeological dig, finding items belonging to the Vikings and deciding what they were and who would have used them.
It was clear to see from the children’s faces that they had a fantastic day! We are very grateful for all the parent helps as without them we wouldn’t have been run all the activities.
