Christmas Carol Service
On Wednesday 20th December, we gathered as a whole-school alongside parents and guests to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ with a carol service. Each year group sang a carol to fit alongside gospel readings from our Year 6 House Captains, who beautifully recounted the birth of Jesus.
Father Stephen opened the service with prayer and Mrs Black led the children through the readings and carols. Mrs Black and Mrs Dutaut then welcomed Mr and Mrs Twinley (owners of Hatfield Place) to the front to receive our thank you for their kind generosity in hosting our school there during the beginning of the RAAC crisis. We presented them with a framed, handwritten thank you letter written by Year 6 pupil Gayathri, a framed photo of the whole school outside Hatfield Place and two wonderful St Andrew's red herdy mascots - kindly knitted by Mrs Black's Mum!
Year 3 sang It was on a starry night, Year 4 Little Donkey, Year 5 Away in a Manger and Year 6 We Three Kings followed by whole-school performances of Midnight and This Christmas Time - a real tear jerker for us all. Mrs Black then welcomed the parents and guests to join the children in singing Hark The Herald Angels Sing.
It really was a wonderful and emotional service and we are so thankful we got to join together to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ at St Andrew's Church.
